Since at least the 1960’s many colleges across the nation have been removing philosophy, theology and literature from their core curriculums. Many colleges even use the absence of a robust core to market their college to students. Classic Learning Initiatives believes in the education of the whole person which means courses like philosophy, theology and literature are among the most essential and formative courses a student will take in college. We believe it is in the best interest of the students in our care to encourage them to first explore colleges that are likewise committed to the education of the whole person.
With over 4,000 colleges in the U.S. it is impossible for a college counselor to be an expert on every college. Therefore, the CLI College Counseling Center seeks to be most familiar with the colleges that have adopted the CLT as an alternative to the SAT/ACT as these colleges have demonstrated a courageous commitment to truly holistic education.
This doesn’t mean 100% of the students we work with should matriculate to a CLTpartnered college. It does mean, however, that our team will communicate to every student we work with the unique opportunity these schools offer to students.
